The match against Orange Hawks on Saturday 12 July was the last game, Antoine played for Mudgee Dragons under 18s. This completes his 12 months stay in Australia.

Antoine de Langlade is a Rotary Exchange Student from Clermont-Ferrand, four hours south of Paris, played rugby union in France.

Playing for the Mudgee Dragons has been his most enjoyable memories while in Australia, among others such as shearing sheep on the property of his host parents Malcolm and Jeanette Sibley, to watching the New Year’s fireworks on Sydney Harbour to scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef.

He started with a few games in March, but didn’t know the rules and found it a bit weird at first. With the help of his team-mates and Dragons’ avid supporter Russell Moriarty, Antoine quickly became one of the fan favourites.

He played fullback in his final game on Saturday. Mudgee Dragons under 18s co-coach Justin Shoulders said it was sad to see him go.

“Playing with the boys was a great experience,” Antoine said.
