It was a pleasure to share with you at the 28 November meeting the catalyst for some revolutionary transport changes. The videos that were presented showed business magnate and entrepreneur, Elon Musk, unveiling Tesla’s new vision for transportation at an event in California on November 16, 2017.
It changes the way we think of cars, trucks and the likes. His team of engineers have taken new design approaches, from the electric power train to the way the vehicles are driven. These new vehicles have eliminated features that we normally associate with conventional road transport, particularly the lack of gears, radiator, various oils, exhaust and so forth.
The video showed a new Tesla Semi, Roadster 2020 and a narrative of the high tech (robotic) factory on how these vehicles were manufactured.
Since Australia is now the largest producer of lithium, which is the base material to make the batteries for these vehicles, it is of interest to understand these vehicles, the way they are made and operate.
The presentation was followed by dinner at Kelly’s Irish pub.
