District Governor Helen Ryan’s visit

On the 22nd August, it was a pleasure to welcome DG Helen Ryan, partner Mike and ADG David Roach to the Club for the annual District meeting.

It was pleasing that many of our members (and Maxine) were able to attend the meeting to welcome Elly Rands as our newest member and hear Helen’s comments about District related matters.

At the club’s board meeting, ahead of last week’s normal meeting, Helen gave positive feedback to our Club planning document. There were a few items discussed in more detail and it was suggested further consideration be given to corporate membership opportunities, new member mentoring & orientation processes and development of a club brochure to help with our membership plans.

Following further consideration of these items our club’s strategic plan can be finalised. DG Helen reminded us that funds are available to Club’s, for local projects, from the District Grants account. To qualify our Club will need training on how to apply and manage the grant process. DG Helen also recommended the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) as an excellent training program, whereby potential leaders as well as other interested members, can gain extra knowledge and understanding about all aspects of Rotary.

During the meeting DG Helen, talked about the district conference on 16-18 Mar 2018, in Nelson Bay which will cover several areas of focus. For those members wishing to have a short “get away” from Mudgee, this will be ideal opportunity to do so. Register before 31 December, and for $115 you are covered for all three days of the conference.

DG partner, Mike, discussed the Rotary Foundation endowment fund. The fund retains its value and the interest/dividend is used to fund service projects. Mike is encouraging Rotary Clubs throughout District 9670 to recognise extraordinary individuals in their community by making a donation to the Rotary Foundation Endowment Fund. A contribution to the Fund of $100 or more will allow a Club to present a non-Rotarian, who has made a difference in their community, with an ‘Immortal’ Badge.
