Kevin Pye was our guest speaker and introduced the poetry night with a lesser known story about the private life of Henry Lawson, followed by poems associated with the story.
Peter, Garry and Jorie also displayed their poetry skills, making it a lively and inclusive evening.
It is encouraging to see members’ interest in this area, in view of a generally low awareness in the community about Henry’s work. Mudgee, as the epicentre of Lawson country, has many sites described by Henry about 150 years ago. These historical precincts, are worthy of a revival and remain an untapped potential waiting to be capitalised for education/literacy, history and tourism.
The following are the video recording of the event using an old phone.
