John Bentley, chair of Mudgee Health Council

Last week (27 February 2018), our guest speaker john Bentley spoke about the exciting $70+ million redevelopment project of the Mudgee Hospital that will provide a major upgrade to the health service’s ageing infrastructure.

The upgraded facility will continue to be a health services hub for people living in the Mid Western Regional local Area and meet their health services needs through to 2027.

John spoke enthusiastically about the planning process that has included significant engagement and consultation with interested parties and reference to other NSW recent hospital redevelopments.

Garry Conelly thanks John for his informative presentation

John explained that a Representative planning group meets fortnightly in
Mudgee and is made up of senior Government health officials, consultants,
contractors, private architects, senior hospital staff, council and community members.

The new, double storey, building will be at the corner of Church/Meares streets with entrance from Meares street.

The plan allows for an oncology unit (4 rooms), renal unit (2 dialysis chairs), an expanded emergency department, medical imaging and shared & private patient ensuite rooms.
